thom yorke / the eraser / xl recordings

Thom Yorke's own words...

this is just a note to say that something has been kicking around in the background that i have not told you about.
its called The Eraser.
nigel produced & arranged it.
i wrote and played it.
the elements have been kicking round now for a few years and needed to be finished & i have been itching to do something like this for ages.
it was fun and quick to do.
inevitably it is more beats & electronics.
but its songs.
stanley did the cover.
yes its a record!
no its not a radiohead record.
as you know the band are now touring and writing new stuff and getting to a good space so i want no crap about me being a traitor or whatever splitting up blah blah...
this was all done with their blessing. and i don't wanna hear that word solo. doesnt sound right.
ok then thats that.

love thom

pantha du prince / lichten, walden / dial

Pantha Du Prince takes his personal palette of sounds and applies them to new minimal techno structures. He creates driving sophisticated dark funk by blending a brooding drive, a heavenly lift and a tech/house structure similar to the Traum label injected with impeccably chosen/arranged sounds. Pantha Du Prince is essential listening. He's always highly recommended and highly regarded in my mind. His 2004 release Diamond Daze will forever be a classic. Lichten, Walden is the teaser to his highly anticipated album coming out later this year.

michael levition / my favorite place to drown / ace fu records

Michael Leviton has stolen my heart this week with his quirky love songs and ukulele strums. Michael states, “My personal favorite place to drown is in a pretty girl’s eyes, but on a less personal level, the title’s supposed to refer to how love seems to be everybody’s favorite self-destructive past time. Romance is the most worthwhile misery. In the old days, sailors used to chase after sirens and drown. Drowning is sort of the essence of romance. It’s not very romantic unless you’re in over your head.” Fans of Jens Lekman are bound to love this.
